We have often noticed our clients get confused
between content marketing and content strategy. They think both the terms have
the same meaning. It is true that they overlap each other, but there are marked
differences between the two.
In the simplest terms, content marketing deals
with creating and publishing content on various social platforms, in a way that
it is readily available to your target audience. Often, the aim is not to
promote or sell, but to simply add to the readers' knowledge and provide an
actionable takeaway. It helps you establish yourself as a thought leader in
your industry, and be recognized as a trustworthy source of information.
On the other hand, content strategy is one of the
pillars of a successful content marketing campaign.
Apart from deciding what
kind of content you should create, it deals with the following considerations -
• What is the
goal of your content piece?
• Who are you
writing for?
• What are their
pain points?
• How can your
solution overcome their problems?
To sum up, both content marketing and content
strategy are different, but one cannot exist without the other. Both are necessary
to achieve the ROI you desire.
